Adie's syndrome is a condition in which the pupil does not react to light. Usually when light is shown in the eye the pupil reacts by closing the center dark portion of the eye to shut out some of the light. In darker conditions the pupil opens wider to allow more light to enter the eye. In Adie's syndrome, this reaction does not occur--usually in one eye(unilaterally) and rarely in both eyes (bilaterally).
