;D[glow=red,2,300] Play Clay[/glow] This is an inexpensive way to have clay fun!
YOU WILL NEED: 3 cups flour 1/2-1 cup water 1 cup salt mixing bowl (optional) food coloring, cinnamon
WHAT YOU DO:
- Mix flour and salt in mixing bowl.
- Slowly add water while mixing until the mixture becomes consistency of clay. If too soft, add more flour. If too dry add more water
- Mix in food coloring if you want clay to be a certain color.
- For scented cookie ornaments add cinnamon.
Store in frig if needed in ziplock bags. Mold and shape into objects of choice on clear (unprinted) paper or plastic coated with light sprinkling of flour. Dried or baked objects can be painted and varnished.
For nondrying clay, add a few tablespoons of cooking oil into the clay mixture.
For a project idea, see "Cookie Cutter Ornaments."

Here's a recipe for edible clay. Make sure your kids are not allergic to peanuts!
You will need: a mixing bowl smooth peanut butter syrup or honey powdered milk
Mix the ingredients in the bowl until you have the consistency of clay. If it is too loose, add more powdered milk. If it is too dry, add more honey, syrup or peanut butter.
For October 31 we mixed up a batch in my elementary class for a science activity. I cut out some figures in the shape of the human body about 1 1/2 feet long. Then we rolled the edible clay out on the figures and shaped the digestive system. The kids who like peanut butter enjoyed eating the "guts" whe they were done. Extra play clay was stored and taken home in zip lock sandwich bags.
