We call this Apple Stuff in my house because it has no name. It's so easy, even I can't mess it up. There are 10,000 calories per serving: Preheat oven to 400. Get a box of yellow cake mix. Melt a stick of butter (not margarine). Mix the butter in the cake mix and add one tablespoon of vanilla extract. If you like nuts, throw some of those in, too. Get a can of apple pie filling (you can also use cherries). Throw the pie filling in a brownie pan. Add some cinnamon sugar...however much you feel you need. Spread the cake mixture on top of the apples. Cook in the oven for 20-25 minutes until topping is brown. Let it cool for five minutes, if you can. You will burn your tongue on the apples if you don't. This was kitchen tested! The tongue heals quickly, though. Throw a dollop of cool whip or vanilla ice cream on top. Eat it up. Listen to your artieries happily closing up. Yum

Thanks! My mother calls this "Apple Pan Dowdy". I'm not sure of the spelling or what a "pan dowdy" is. Our school cafeteria ladies call it "Apple Crunch". We've also used fruit c o c k tail and canned peaches as filling.
I've never tried it with whipped cream or ice cream before. Sounds yumMEE--and, yes---fattening! ;D

Glue Drawing Visual impairments teachers use a lot of white glue to make raised line graphics. At one time it was all we had! Try sprinkling salt or sand over wet glue for a different textured effect.
Mrs. V. Brown at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired uses many creative hands-on techniques with her multi-disabled visually impaired class. She's where this idea came from! She's not just a creative teacher but a real sweetie-pie of a person as well!
During one of my last visits to her classroom, she showed me how the children created undersea creatures by first using water-based markers to color the paper seacreature's shape. Two sides were glued together and stuffed to make the animals 3-dimensional.Then the entire surface is covered with white glue (like Elmer's) which is sprinkled with salt. The wet glue and markers gave the sea creatures a wonderful watercolor effect while the texture was like that of a real salthingyer sea creature! The starfish were especially lovely and my favorites!!
